Direct Payments

Direct Payments re payments made by Council's directly to individuals who have been assessed as having 'eligible needs' for certain social care services. Direct Payments are one way in which people can direct their own support by using their personal budget to purchase assistance or services that the council would otherwise provide.

The Care Act 2014 gives councils the legal duty to offer people who are eligible for social care services the option of receiving Direct Payments it also gives councils the duty to offer information, advice and support on how to do this.

Lancashire County Council have a policy and procedure in relation to Direct Payments which applies to both adults and children. The documents along with relevant guidance, templates and information can be found on the intranet.
